Sixteen Candles is a 1984 American coming-of-age teen comedy film starring Molly Ringwald, Michael Schoeffling, and Anthony Michael Hall. Written and directed by John Hughes in his directorial debut, it was the first in a string of films Hughes would direct, centering on teenage life. The film follows newly 16-year-old Samantha Baker (Ringwald), who deals with a seemingly unrequited crush on high school senior Jake Ryan (Schoeffling) while also being pursued by freshman Ted “The Geek” Farmer (Hall).

Tisha B’Av Film Screening Brings Story of Survival, Empathy, and Hope to Steamboat Springs Steamboat Springs, CO – In a special observance of Tisha B’Av, the Jewish day of mourning, Har Mishpacha: The Jewish Congregation of Steamboat Springs invites the broader community to a screening of the powerful new documentary Holding Liat, followed by a community discussion. The screening will take place on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at 6:30 PM at Wildhorse Cinemas. Tickets are $18 in advance or $24 at the door, with limited seating available.
